2-year experience with AVflo™ presented: Secondary patency > 81%!

October 14th, 2014

The department of vascular surgery at the University of Milan, Italy summarized their experience with AVflo™. In contrary to the standard studies dealing with the patency of grafts for hemodialysis, which look at the results after one year, the Milan group presents a 2-year follow up.
The most encouraging result is the secondary patency after 2 years which was 81%!
Before using AVflo™, solid vascular accesses were created using mainly autogenous material namely the patient’s own veins. This material requires similar techniques as AVflo™:

  • The use of a hollow tunneler-sheath is mandatory in both
  • Both require special attention to avoiding kinks
  • The “feeling” of the material is similar
